BLUNDY, Captain (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
Church Army Chichester Van – organiser
“From eighty years to one month old: The 'Chichester' Van was heartily welcomed to East Wittering on Tuesday, Jan. 12, for a Week's Mission Services. […] On Thursday a grand double Service was held. This consisted of a bright and hearty Gospel Service, with an address on 'Prisoners of Hope,' by Cadet Smith, succeeded by a Lantern Service, when Capt. Blundy explained, in a lucid manner, the marvellous work which is being accomplished by the C.A. On Sunday evening the whole of the Service was thrown on the sheet, and subsequently the Captain gave an eloquent and touching address on the latter part of the Life of our Lord. The address was illustrated by beautiful lantern slides, and could not fail to touch the hearts of the hearers. The schoolroom was crowded by attentive audiences each evening, the ages varying from old people of eighty years to an infant of one month. Although the Officers have made such a short stay with us, they have endeared themselves to all with whom they have come in contact, and we trust that much permanent good may result from their earnest endeavours. We must not omit to mention that the Services were brightened by the singing, cornet paying, and handbell ringing of Capt. Blundy.”
