KIMPTON, Captain (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
“A new station. Chertsey. – Harvest Thanksgiving Services were held in our Mission Hall, on Thursday, October 1, when many kind friends sent a large supply of fruit, flowers, bread, etc. Our Vicar gave the address. On Friday we had our first Church Army Tea, which, thanks be to God was a great success. Tea began at 5.30 ehan about 80 sat down. After tea the room was cleared for a Lantern Service and Coffee supper, Captain Kimpton read a beautiful and touching story 'The torn Bible” and Captain Greig, of London, took charge of the Lantern. Altogether we had a blessed and glorious time. We intend to hold Lantern and Social Entertainments on Friday evenings, during the coming winter. On Saturday, about 60 children came to a special Children’s Lantern Service. On Sunday we began by Prayer Meeting at 7.30; at night we had our usual Church Army meeting; Captain Kimpton conducted the service and Captain Greig gave a splendid address. The meeting was well attended, and we look forward with hope that Heavenly Father will richly bless Catain Kimpton in the work he is carrying on in our Mission Hall”
