ROBINSON, Reverend W. (c.1858- after 1908) – lecturer
“Shirehampton and Avonmouth - That the Lord had done great things for us is the testimony of our brothers and sisters here. Some have been turned away from the public house to go the house of praise and prayer. There is pleasure in listening to some of the navvies, who work on the dock extension at Avonmouth, speaking in the meetings uppon the change that has taken place in their lives, and telling others of the Saviour's love. The meetings are well attended, specially on Sunday evenings and wer pray that many may be won to Christ. On Saturday night we had a magic lantern entertainment, illustrating the life of Christ. The lecture was given by our Curate, Rev. W. Robinson. When the Crucifixion was shown we sang 'When I survey the wondrous cross' and a deep impression was made on the people. On November 2nd, Mrs. Miles laid the foundation-stone of the new church at Avonmouth, and although wet it was a blessed day to many, who prayed that the new church may be sanctified by God's presence. CAPT. JOHNSON”
