“Religious Work Amongst Hoppickers.- A special mission to the hop-pickers has been in progress during the past three weeks, and Captain Kendrick, of the Church Army, has rendered the clergy of the parish valuable assistance in the work. The people were visited at their barns and in the hop-yards, and several magic-lantern services were held weekly in the evening. Special services were also conducted by the clergy at different barns in turn on the Sunday afternoons. All these were well attended, the people very reverent and attentive, apparently by no means ungrateful for the efforts that were being made in their behalf. The farmers willingly offered every facility for the holding of the services, and, in some instances were active in rendering valuable personal aid. We hope that the mission will have been productive of some lasting benefit to the hop-pickers, many of whom belong to a class that is scarcely reached at all by the various religious agencies which are striving to influence for good the lower strats of our teeming production. - From the Malvern News. ”
