“'I've found a Friend': The mission which has been held in this parish for the last fortnight has just been brought to a close. (...) The missioners (Capt. Powell, assisted by Lieut. Olive) have done their best to win sould for their Master. The services have been very plain and simple, so that even a child could understand them. During the mission, we had two lantern services. Two nights were taken up with showing pictures in the 'Life and Passion of Our Lord'. People held out and would not give in, but when they saw the pictures of our Lord's sufferings, and when they were told that it was for them he suffered, hard hearts were softened, burdens were rolled away, and thank God, eyes were opened to behold Jesus (....).”
