On Sunday afternoon, May 31, he gave an address to our open-air service, when, although this is a little country village, we had a fifty adults standing round, besides children, and we believe the words spoken were blessed to some. In the evening Capt. Davey gave an address at Flanden. On Monday, June 1, he gave a Lantern Lecture to about seventy children; who appreciated it very much; it was entitled 'Little Joy’s Mission.” Later in the evening there was a crowded room (Rev. A. Birdikin presiding) to hear and see something of Church Army work. Nearly sixty slides were thrown on the sheet to illustrate the subject, and Capt. Davey’s lecture was much enjoyed. The Rev. Birdikin said at the close he had not spent 'so enjoyable an hour for a long time.” The collection was £1 17s. 9d. One thing pleased us much. After the Lecture, when Capt. Davey was going away, two who had come to the meeting without any money brought offerings and gave to him his way to the sation.”
