STANTON, Captain , senior (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer
“A Lecture on Noses. Kington. – On Easter Monday we held a Tea Meeting in our Mission Room here, and although the fine weather induced many people to take their holy day away from the little town and the scene ot our quiet enjoyment, we had a good attendance, and all seemed thoroughly to enjoy themselves. Imagine a nice little room bright with Easter floral decorations – in which stood rows of tables adorned with snowy cloths and sparkling china, and laden with a variety of good things, and then, last, but not least; rows of bright faces beaming over the intirior of our Mission Room. When full justice had been done to the repast, and the tables cleared away, the Capt. Proceeded to give his Lecture on Noses, illustrated by the magic lantern. The slides were the Captain’s own production, and admirably served the purpose for which they were intended, showing off the noses to perfection. The Captain kept his audience on the top-toe of expectancy each time he changed the slides. The lecture was highly interesting, amusing, and instructive, and almost enjoyable evening was spent.”
