GASSICK, Captain W.  (1858-1928) – lecturer

Reference

“Early blessings sought. Minworth, Birmingham. – The work of the C.A. in this corner of the Lord’s vineyard is progressing happily. The Sunday evening services are well attended. Ex-Captain Braden, with two Brothers from Birmingham, visited us, and conducted a very happy service, on Sunday recently. On Good Friday our Captain gave a Lantern service, which was largely attended and much appreciated. The pictures were, 'From Gethsemane to Calvary”. On Easter Morning Capt. Gassick had a Meeting at 8 o’clock in the Mission Hall, and the usual service in the evening. On Easter Moonday a Coffee Supper and Fruit Repast was held. Nurse Bennett was with us and Capt. Porter, from the Labour Home, Birmingham. Each gave a short address on the evils of drink. Other friends sang, recited and read, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. On Esater Morning Mrs. L. Gassick and 13 others from Bodymoor Heath walked through the fields (1 ½ miles) to Holy Communion at 8.15, in the Parish Church, Kingsbury. A goodly number of mothers meet together each Monday afternoon. The Sunday SCHool is growing fast. The little ones on Easter Sunday mustered 41, so the lambs of the flock are being cared for be soul winners for the Master. Twenty-two candidates are coming forward for Confirmation at Minworth and Bodymoor Heath.”
