“Working for God all day. Manchester. – Since our last report we have had many changes here, but we are trusting that 'all things work together for good to them that love God. 'Some of us realized that we were losing a teacher and a friend when Captain Kelly left us, but we can thank God that He has sent us another in the person of Captain Dawber. During Holy Week we had many blessings poured upon us. Thank God for the showers and blessings. We were out in the open-air every night, trying to get people to come to the services, which were held in the church up to Friday, and on Friday night being Good Friday we had lantern views on the Crucification of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It was almost solemn and heart-searching time. Most of us spent the best part of our Easter in God’s service. On Monday we had a grand Church Army day. We had open-air Meeting again after tea, and a great Indoor Meeting at night, where several friends from some little distance spoke the truth as it is Jesus. We also heard something to go away with from our Rector on the justice and mercy of God and of the love of Jesus towards us, in receiving the just punishment for the guilty, 'the soul that sinneth it shall die”. 'He who knew no sin was made sin for us.” Then our Captain reminded us of letting it be lent with us all the year round. May God help us to be continully 'looking unto Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith.”
