“Cold Regions and warm hearts. Heddington, Calne, Wilts – Since our lent Service have commenced, we have a good number attending the special Gospel Addresses given by our Captain, which he illustrates with Lantern Pictures. By this means we attracted a fourth of the population of our parish the other evening into our Mission Room. On Monday, Feb. 24, we had a Lantern Lecture – 'From London to Cananda”, and had a very interesting time, following the travels and experiences of our Captain when he was there, lifting up Christin that Cold region amongst warm hearts. One said after 'your experiences, Captain, put me in mind some of St. Paul’s travels.” Our men’s Bible Class led by our Captain, numbers twelve, with two violins to lead us in our praises. Our course of study is 'The Life of Christ”. Our prayer is 'May we follow in His footsteps.” We are doing some Out-post Work at Chittoe, Wilts. Last Tuesday, in the Sandy Lane Church, we had first an address by the Captain on 'Sin and forgiveness of sinner”, afterwards the Rector threw upon the sheet some beautiful pictures, illustrating the 'Passion of our blessed Lord,” Capt. H. – describing them. These Lantern Services will be continued by the Caotain every Tuesday during lent.”
