“New Songs to sing. Dinkfield, St. Johns. – We are glad to be able to report that God is with us, and giving us good meetings. In Testimony Meetings we are greatly cheered to see constantly Brothers and Sisters telling out a full heart to goodness of God towards them. A Brother who was brought to Christ a little over two months ago, told us he had been to see his friends. They asked him to sing them a song as was customary when visiting his friends. He told them he had given up the old mates for a better one, and he had got new songs to sing. Others tell us their little homes are become a heaven upon earth since they signed the pledge, and have given Christ their hearts. Feb. 22, some friends from Oldham, gave us a splendid Lantern Entertainment; he had a good number of present, and cleared over £1 3s. between admission and coffe supper. Sunday 23, at 2.45, we had sevice of song in our Mission Hall, by our choir. Our Curate read the connective readings. At 6.30, our hall was again well filled, the address was given by Captain Nairn; a duet was sung by Mr. Und Miss Nairn. Thought there were none who came forward yet we believe many were under conviction. For Capt. Nairn.”
