GILL, Captain   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

Reference

“A Rainbow at night. Thorverton. – On Friday evening, Jan.3, a very pleasant time was spent at Rull Farm, our Mission station. A Beautiful story, entitled 'Friendless Bob,” was read by Captain Gill, and lantern views on the subject exhibited. At intervals solos and recitations were rendered by juvenile performers, who had received careful trainig from the Evangelist and his wife. These young entertainers had been conveyed to Rull through the kindness of the Vicar and Mr. Cosway. One pleasing piece was the dialogue 'The Rainbow”, the parts being taken by seven girls. Mrs. Leach also sang a solo. The effort of those who have tried to make the evening a success were much appreciated and fully rewarded by the large number present. The work of Captain Gill is especially valued in this remote part of the parish, and with the blessing of God must result in much good. J.A. M., for Cap. Gill.”
