RYDER, R.  (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

Reference

“Little Joy” Always Pleases. Bolton Emmanuel. – On Saturday, Jan. 11, in our new Mission Room we held a most blessed service of song, entiteld 'Given in Charge, or little Joy’s Mission.” Our large room was crowded; Mr. R. Ryder read the beautiful story which was most effective, our Curate presided. The choruses solos, etc., were feelingly performed, conducted and accompanied by members of our Mission and friends a small choir of children sang the Chorus 'Children’s voices”, most prettily. Our best thanks are due to our worthy schoolmaster, who so kindly worked his splendid limelight magic lantern for us, and the beautyful and touching pictures, music and story will be long remembered. Nearly £2 was handed over to our Mission Fund as the result of the evening. For Capt. F.H.Carter.”

Notes
The lantern was operated by a local schoolmaster.
