Given in charge: or, little Joy's mission (story: T.J. and W.F. Piggott, 30 slides, in/before 1888)
CRABTREE, Captain (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
“A Little Child Dudley, St. Thomas’s. – on Jan. 7, a Service of Song, entitled 'Given in Charge, or Joy’s Mission”, was rendered by a few C.A. friends and soldiers, illustrated by limelight. The reading was given by the Vicar. We had a large number present, and all were very much impressed, many being brought to tears as the story of little Joy’s great mission of love was unfolded by the reading, the impressive pictures shown upon the sheet, and the hymns and solos sung by the choir. We announced that another Service of Song would be given shortly, as we feel much good is done in this way. God grant that the impressions made at this service may have lasting results, and that all may put the same simple trust in Christ as did little Joy. J.W.W., for Cpt. Chabtree.”
