“Good things for infancy and old age: On Dec. 2, the 2nd Anniversary of the Parochial Scripture Reading Union was held, when the children of few summers and the aged sire of 84 winters, assembled to make a mental excursion to the Holy Land, by viewing lantern pictures of incidents and places associated with the incomparable life of the 'Man of Sorrows,' not omitting that great transaction which having been decreed in Heaven, before the foundation of this world, was 'finished' on Calvary at the appointed hour. The pictures were shown by the Secretary, Mr. A.E. Barber, who also read scripture passages, illustrating them. May the Love of Him, thus brought before us, be engraved on all rocky hearts, and may many commence and continue to study the Holy Bible.”
