“'Stirred' and fired: On Sunday evening, the 17th, Capt. Hanson, C.A., gave a most interesting address at a Lantern Service, held in favour of the Rev. W. Carlile's splendid work for the tramps, criminals and inebriates, in connection with the Labour Homes. This service will not easily be forgotten. The Mission Hall was packed full. A much larger place was required, and God greatly blessed the gathering, for one soul at all events was stirred, and, we believe, others were converted and greatly blessed; in fact, we cannot speak too highly of the efforts so constantly made here by the Soldiers and friends, and we long for the day when a permanent Mission Hall may be erected, with no rent to pay, but free, and no favour but the favour of Almighty God. Praise be to Him for the past and present mercies.”
