“The dusty Bibles: We have started our Lantern Services again for the winter season, and we have cause to believe that they will do a great deal of good, as we can get many there who will not come to the Mission Services. Our last one was entitled, 'Hubert's Torn Bible,' which was a true and very interesting story. At the end of the Lantern Service our Captain said a few words to the fathers and mothers who were present about the duty of praying for their children if they wanted them to be good soldiers for the Lord Jesus Christ. He also said that although he thought the people took more care of their Bibles now than to get them torn yet he believed that many had the dusty Bibles in their house, and he hoped that if any of the congregation had them in their homes, that when they got home they would go and dust them, and afterwards read them at least once a every day and not let the dust settle on it again. The same Lantern Services was given on Tuesday , at Thornley; on Wednesday, at Tow Law; and on Thursday, at Wolsingham. We thank all who helped us.”
