“A shadow of Christ: On Wednesday, April 3rd, we had a very interesting Lantern Service on 'The Life of Joseph,' and 'From Gethsemane to Calvary.' On account if its being very stormy at the time, many of our friends were not able to get there. Our Curate preached from the slides and showed us how that in many ways Joseph was a type of Christ: In being despised and rejected by his brethren; and also in being a Saviour , that is in saving the people from death by famine. After singing 'Go to dark Gethsemane, ' our thoughts were carried both by the pictures and by the preacher, to the time when our Lord went to Gethsemane and prayed more earnestly, to the time when he was lifted upon the cross to draw all men unto Him. though few in number we were all so much blessed that we sung not only with our lips but with our hearts: 'Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were an offering far too small; Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my life, my soul, my all.'”
