‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“A large handful: On Sat., Nov. 3, our Church Army Rooms were the scene of a happy gathering, when Miss Turner opened our '.' The Company represented all the institutions of our large parish of over 12,400 souls, including as it does a Church and two Mission Churches, besides our own C.A. Mission. The room was very nicely decorated by the Captains and soldiers. Our old friend, ex-Captain Cox, now Police Court Missioner here, was with us, seconded the vote of thanks to Miss Turner, proposed by Alderman Billington. Our Vicar introduced Miss Turner and gave us some detail of Church Army work all over England not the least interesting of which was that of our own Corps. Rev. W. E. Bentley, Curate-in-Charge of St. Stephen's Mission Church, most kindly gave us a lime-light Magic Lantern Entertainment in one of the class rooms, which was much appreciated.”
