KENDRICK, Captain (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
Church Army Van (unspecified) – organiser
“The stranger within our gate: A five week's Mission among the hop-pickers in this parish has been brought to a close under Capt. Kendrick, C.A., who has conducted it under the superintendance of the Rector. He assiduously visited the 1,200 pickers, who have been scattered over the various farms in the parish, and has given them frequent services - three on each Sunday, while on weekdays almost every evening has been devoted to a 'Lantern Lecture,' which has been much appreciated; a request being frequently made for the Lecture to be repeated. At the Lecture a paragraph of Scripture has been read by the Rector and briefly expounded, hymns have been sung, and prayers offered. About 3,000 Church Army Gazettes, tracts, books, &c. have been distributed among the hop-pickers, which have been always gratefully received. And thus in one way and another a serious attempt has been made in the parish to influence for good the great number of 'strangers' who have visited it for a short time.”
