Last night we had our new Captain and the Magic Lantern; our subject, 'The Prodigal Son.' Capt. Johnson told out of a full heart how God had saved a poor prodigal like him. He described the poor fellow, starving, dying, without home, without a friend, and worse, without God in the world, money gone, friends gone, character gone, all gone; no father now to give advice, no mother to care for him, broken-hearted he sits down by the side of the swine trough and bitterly sweeps. Mrs. Shingler sang 'In the land of the stranger,' and 'Come home.' At the close of the meeting, two men and a young woman came home from the far country to travel with us to Heaven - to God be the glory.”
