COLLINS, Captain J. Martin  (fl. 1890s-1900s) – lecturer

Reference
‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“On the rectory lawn: Capt. Collins, with Cadets Austin and Richards, were welcome here both for their works' sake and as evidence to the people here that laymen who will evangelize, under Church authority, are esteemed as 'work-fellows,' and have a ministry. [...] Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday they exhibited Lantern Views, illustrating the Gospel History, interspersed with hymns and short addresses, and on Thursday afternoon, the schoolroom being engaged, they gathered ninety of our children on the Rectory lawn, and in the evening took their lantern to another hamlet. This is a bare record of the public engagements; visiting and book-selling were other items of their work. I am grateful for the visit, and thoroughly satisfied with the visitors, whom may God abundantly bless.”
