“Quite a part of the place: For the last two months or more we have had Capt. Withers working in this little village, and his quiet figure going from house to house has become quite a part of the place, and we are sure he will be very much missed when he leaves us. It was decided by our Vicar that it would be well to have a week of Special Mission Services; these began on February 5th, and ended with a Praise Meeting after Church on the following Sunday evening. The Schoolroom was well filled each night, Capt. Withers giving short Gospel Addresses, and the Vicar always ready to give the word presided. Two Magic Lantern Services were held on the Tuesday, and on Thursday. Capt. Chapman, from Exeter, came and took a helpful part. We feel that this week's work has certainly done good, and that the seed sown must bear fruit; many were strengthened in their course and, we believe some, for the first time, decided to follow Our Saviour. ”
