GRUMMETT, Captain (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
C.E.T.S. Henley-on-Thames Branch – organiser
“A lantern lecture in an Iron Church: On Tuesday evening, at the meeting of the St. Mary-the-Virgin, Henley-on-Thames Branch of the Church of England Temperance Society, held in the Iron Mission Church, on Gravel Hill, Capt. Grummett, of the Church Army, delivered an admirable lecture on the work of the Church Army, illustrated by a Magic Lantern. More than fifty slides were shown, dealing partly with the Evangelistic work of the Church Army, partly with the 'Social Scheme.' The Mission Church was quite full, over 100 being present. The lecture was much appreciated by the audience, among whom the lecturer, at the close of meeting, distributed copies of the Church of Army Gazette. The proceedings opened and concluded with prayer. The Rector, the Rev. J. F. Maul, presided.”
