“I also am very glad to express my gratitude to God for the visit of the Church Army Van to my Parish, though unfortunately unable to be present at more than three meetings; these were well attended (one was packed) and I am told the others were equally so. We were fortunate enough in having an assistant organist, Mr. Edmund Brown, who has frequently helped in the Children's Seaside Services at Weymouth and Bournemouth. But, if possible, it would be I think a great help if they had a portable harmonium. The Magic Lantern will be a great success after a little more practice, and I was glad to let them have a stand for it. I have known of the work of the Church Army for a long time, and in early days assisted once or twice in meetings in Marylebone and Westminster. That God may bless the work in my earnest prayer.”
