“Winter Evening Entertainments - Recognising the importance of providing pleasant and instructive entertainment for the members of Bands of Hope, the Committee were happy to arrange during the winter season for over 300 Dissolving View Lectures and about 100 Lectures illustrated by a Panorama, a large proportion being delivered in the Provinces. As every lecture thus illustrated contains useful lessons on the subject of Temperance, the Committee are enabled by this means to enunciate their principles not only to the members of Societies, but to the large number of friends who, attracted by the beauty of the pictures, are present at the entertainment. The expense involved in the maintenance in full efficiency of the four sets of apparatus, and of over one thousand sildes is considerable; but from the satisfactory results which have invariably attended these exhibtions, the Committee have every confindence in the wisdom of continuing and further developing this long standing branch of their work.”
