HARRIS, John (fl. 1880s) – lecturer
“Aspley Guise, Beds - The report of this society takes the form of a letter to the subscribers, from which we learn that it is twenty years since this useful work has begun. The Band of Hope has kept up ist numbers, and from the interest shown at all meetings, and the assistance rendered by the children and friends prooves there is no lack of life and earnestness. They have twice had the pleasure of a visit from Mr. John Harris, of Bedford, with dissolving views; also two fetes, in August and December. The summer fete was a great success, and passed off most happily, 331 sat down to tea in Mr. Alfred Smith's field, kindly lent for the occasion. A senior society has recently been formed, and meets monthly. ”
