‘Metropolitan Bands of Hope’ in Band of Hope chronicle

“Victoria Hall (New Cut) - On Saturday, Nov. 22nd, a meeting of a most interesting nature was held at the Royal Victoria Hall, Lambeth, on which occasion, a Band of Hope organized so as to meet of the poor and densely populated neighborhood of the 'New Cut' was inaugurated. It is estimated that more than a thousand children were present. The meeting was addressed by Lord Mount-Temple, Samuel Morley, Esq., M.P.Mr. Barber, Q. C., and Mr. Charles Wakely, the latter delivering a lecture entitled 'The Temperance Sketch Book' illustrated by the beautiful Dissolving Views of the Parent Union. It is hoped that much good will result from this effort.”
