Much of the material listed in Lucerna is held in private collections whose owners prefer not to advertise their holdings. However the public collections listed below can be browsed.

In most cases only a fraction of the collection’s holdings are listed – for most institutions, their lantern-related items form only a small portion of a much larger general collection.
