‘Country’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Hull - Bethnal Methodist New Connexion. On Thursday afternoon, Jan 28th, , a free tea, followed by an entertainment, was given to 150 poor children in the Sykes-street Sunday School. This was the second of the series inaugurated by the members of the Young Women's Bible-class (No.2, Miss Bell's). The entire arrangements were carried out by the class, and the young people enjoyed a very substantial tea, followed by oranges. An interesting series of magic lantern views were afterwards exhibited by Mr. Downing - for Mr. Elliot - (who kindly gave their services), comprising Scripture scenes, the 'Pilgrim's Progress,' and nursery tales.”
