“A Van Mother: Some time ago the 'Ripon' Van Missioners opened a very successful Mission in this parish. It was evident from the first that they were full of zeal and enthusiasm for their work, and their meetings soon grew in size and earnestness. The Lantern Service, at which Capt. Smith explained the work of the Church Army, was greatly appreciated, and resulted in a good collection. Many, until then, were unaware of the great work that is being done by the Social branch of the Army. Sunday was a very busy day. They were actively supported by the Rector at all their meetings, which were the means of arousing a deeper spiritual feeling. There were many sincere expressions of regret when the Mission drew to a close, and they left the village with the heartiest good wishes of their numerous friends. Thanks to the kindly care of Mrs. T. Wall, Brother Catterall, has quite recovered.”
