PEARSE, Reverend R.V.B.  (c.1862-1907) – lecturer

Reference

“Indeed God’s work Ashwick, Somerset. – On Monday Jan. 6, the Rev. R. Pearse (Org. Sec. For the West) gave us a very ineresting Lantern Lecture, on the Social Work of the Church Army. As we have no room suitable, the rev. W. Shorland, vicar of Oakhill, kindly lent us his schoolroom. Unfortunately he was unable to attend on account of illness, but wrote us a kind letter of sympathy. Although the weather was bad there was a good attendance; the room being quite full. Our vicar, Rev. J.B. D’Aguilar, briefly introduced Mr. Pearse, who at once commenced his most interesting lecture. Pictures illustrating the different phrases of Labour Home wark and life were thrown on the sheet, and the anecdotes told by Mr. Pearse proved, beyond a doubt, that, in very many instances, the reformation was real and lasting. All went awy thoroughly convinced that this work is indeed God’s work, and the collection, which amounted to £ 2 3s. 1 ½ d, proved that the sympathy was of a practical character. For Capt. Farley.”
