“Still rambling on: 'The Carlile Van' is still working among the miners. On Good Friday they had good attendances at the Lantern Services, 'the way to the Cross,' many staying behind with tears in their eyes to testify that they had found the Cross to be their refuge. They said, 'you know we cannot read, but we can see them there pictures and when we hear you talk about them it makes us feel so glad to think He loved us so much.' One old man was heard to say: 'That (meaning the Cross) ain't shown often enough. I must say it was wholly good, I shall come again and see them.' The people came for three miles to see the pictures.”
