GRUMMETT, Captain   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

Reference

“'What is the Church Army?': On Wednesday, the 7th inst., a lecture entitled 'What is the Church Army?' was delivered in this Hall by Capt. Grummett, officer in charge of St. Paul's Mission Church, Warren Row. The chair was taken by the Rev. F.B. Hearn, Curate of St. Saviour's. The Hall was packed, the audience consisting chiefly of working people. The lecturer traced the history of the Church Army and exhibited fifty-six magic lantern slides descriptive of various branches of its work. He mentioned that there were now about 40 Bishops who were patrons of the Church Army. At the close of the lecture the hymn 'Abide with me' was sung, after wich a beautiful picture of the cruxification was exhibited, and the audience sang 'When I survey the wondronus cross.'”
