“Richmond - On February 4 a dense crowd of over a thousand children thronged Holy Trinity Hall, kindly lent by the Vicar, for a Band of Hope entertainment anf lantern lecture in aid of Our Dumb Friend's League. The local Union worked with the latter for a combined meeting to advocate abstinence from drink and kindness to animals. It was a great success, the singing, the actions songs, and the pictures all being excellent. The Rev. J. H. Jones was a good chairman. Miss Edith King described the doggie pictures with enthusiasm. After the lecture Mrs. Barnett presented medals for kindness. ”
