Season 1912-13: seventh supplement to the general catalogue of lantern slides (Bradford: Riley Brothers, 1912), 4

“In this touching story we are told how Jacob Beeching, the woodman, was brought to regret the harshness which had closed the door against his only son, David. David had gone wrong, years before; had become a gambler and a thief, and Jacob felt the reproach keenly. But he was a very good man, and a sermon by a strange minister opened his eyes to the unchristlikeness of his conduct. Thenceforward he and his wife never ceased to pray for the return of the lost son. In the end the prodigal came back, and the story is well told and is free from sensationalism. The lessons to be drawn from it are invaluable.”
