Notes

Lantern with chimney flexible in height, the burner is marked “L.J. Marcy patented April 28 August 11 1868, July 1889”; according to Huhtamo this lantern could have been made by the brothers Middelstrass. Recalls the Gebrüder Mittelstrass / Woodbury lantern (“Sciopticon Projektor”, 1897) in Ernst Hrabalek, Laterna Magica. Zauberwelt und Faszination des optischen Spielzeugs. Keysersche Verlagsbuchhandlung, München 1985, p. 40, only the wooden part between lens and lantern is missing with the Mittelstrass / Woodbury model.
