“Entertainment. A magic lantern entertainment was held in the Otakou Wesleyan Church to raise funds for circuit debt. The attendance was not very large, but Mr Nordgren showed some excellent pictures and views, and by his original remarks caused the evening to pass very pleasantly. The pictures comprised views of New Zealand and Swiss scenery, Diamond Jubilee procession, pictures of ancient and modern Rome, towns of Palestine, the fjords of Norway, and a lot more views of places which were lucidly described as being somewhere in Europe. During the evening Mr Greenslade gave a reading entitled 'The Road to Heaven,' while Mr Nordgren manipulated the slides illustrating the story.”
