“Somers Town - At Clarendon Hall, Somers Town, on Boxing Day, upwards of 500 children of the poor and destitute of Somers Town and district sat down to a substantial dinner of baked beef, potatoes, and plum pudding provided by the Christian's Men's Union Gospel Mission. In cases of sickness the dinners were sent to the homes of children, and in addition some 400 parcels of groceries and 200 joints of meat were given to needy and deserving families. In the evening, the children wer given a dissolving view entertainment by Messrs. Willott (superintendent of Stanhope-street Wesleyan Sunday School) and Crawford, and each child on leaving was presented with an orange. ”
