“Clapton Wesleyan Sunday School Band of Hope - On Decmeber 27th this society held ist second annual Christmas gathering with great success. Nearly 100 members first partook of tea, after which Rev. F. W. Briggs presided. Seven Christmas glees and carols were rendered by the choir, varied with recitations, the entertainment closing at late hour with a dissolving view lecture on 'A Trip to America' by Mr. W. N. Edwards, of the United Kingdom Band of Hope Union.”
