‘Our Van Corner’ in Church Army gazette

“The Choir Lead the Way - The Church Army Van has paid a visit to Kenton, and Capt. Steer and his helper, Mr. Coleman, held a ten day's mission. We feel sure that the Mission has resulted in much good to many lives. Capt. Steer's adresses were marked by sincerity, earnestness, and directness, and we believe that many have been brought to think about the great truths of our religion more seriouslyand with a real purpose of amendment in life. Services were held in the schoolroom each evening, adn the room was filled on every occasion. There were three spiecial Services, for children, with lantern pictures, and a Men's Service in church on Sunday afternoon. The Sunday evening was marked by a Mission Service in the Church. There was first an open-air March, headed by the Choir, and the singing was lead by Capt. Steer with the cornet. The Church was well filled, and the Service was most impressive. On the closing, Capt. Steer gave a Lantern Lecture on the work of the Church Army to a crowded audience, for whom it was difficult to find room. It was with great regret that Kentonians bade farewell to Capt. Steer and Mr. Coleman at the close of the Mission. Kenton Parish Magazine. ”
