Reference

“'During the past five weeks in the C.A. Canterbury Van has been stationed adjoining the parish church, and from it, day by day, Capt. Halliwell and Brother Rigby have started on their house to house visitations in this extensive parish with its outlying hamlets. Evening service (Saturdays excepted) generally with lantern illustrations, have been held either in the schoolroom or in two oast houses kindly lent and carefully prepared by friends for the missioners. They have received a hearty welcome and the attendance notwithstanding the weather was often wet and uninviting has been decidedly encouraging.”
