WADDLE, Captain Hodgson  (1874- after 1901) – lecturer

‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“'Reslut of a Glimpse.' Kilburn, Derby.- On Monday evening a public tea, followed by a service of song, entitled, 'The Way to Heaven,' was held in the National Schoolroom. Capt. Waddle, church Army Evangelist, now stationed at Kilbirn, was the leading spirit, and his efforts were ably seconded by an efficient band of workers connected with the mission. Over 70 persons sat down to tea, and after the tables were cleared, the schoolroom was put in order for the service of song, at which a great many more were present. The Service was beautifully illustrated by lantern slides, taken from life; the connective readings were given by the Vicar of Horsley, Rev. A.J. Waldy. The musical portion of the service was well rendered by the choir, Capt. Waddle officiating as organist. The proceeds, amounting to £4 10s., were for the C.A. Funds. Capt. Waddle is energetically carrying on the good work in our midst, which was initiated last spring by a visit from the SOuthwell No. I. Van (CApt. Wilson9, which was our first glimpse of C.A. work. We have now a Gospel service, followed by a lantern service, each Sunday night, which are very well attended, as well as the week-night service on Thursday evenings. A.H., for Capt. Waddle.”
