“'A Promising Start.' Sutton Coldfiled (Warwickshire). - The good reception accorded to the mission held in this parish last Advent by the Church Army Van No. I. (Worcester Diocese) has led to the appointment of a resident evangelist. Capt. Beddoard came on Sept. 16. and has held regular mission services on Sunday and other nights, on the Whitehouse Common, and large congregations have attended at the mission room there, so large indeed that we hope to have more extensive and mre central premises provided soon. On Cot. 26 and Nov. 2, Capt. Beddard gave two lectures on the Apostels' Creed, in the Town Hall, and these were illustrated by excellent lantern slides, supplied by the Church Army. We were very pleased to see many people come, and all seemed to much appreciate the lectures. It was all sound Church teaching from beginning to end, and we have no doubt many took away a great deal of information which they much needed. I am fully persuaded that this is the best way to get hold of the people. Attract them to the meetings, take away wrong prejudices, and implant good doctrine in their place. That more and more of God's children may be brought to a better knowledge of Him by these and all other means, and be brought to serve Hime more faithfully, is the humble and heartfelt prayer of all the labourers in His vineyard.
