“'Looking for more': The 'Lincoln' Church Army Mission Van arrived here on Feb. 21, in charge of Capt. C.W. Beck and Llieut. Place, who were cordially received by the Vicar, the Rev. A.J. Soden. The stay of the Van lasted over a fortnight, and during each evening in the week, expect Sturday, Capt. Beck held a Special Service in the school, which was generally well attended. The two Missioners also gave Addresses in the church on Sunday. The Lantern Services at the school were a considerable attraction, and great attention was given to the excellent Addresses of the Captain and his Lieutenant. Let us devoutly hope that many of those who attended theser Special Services will be led to a better appreciation of the Church and her teaching. God grant that the result of this Church Mission may be the bringing forth of 'fruit' which will 'remain'. The Van left for Alford on Wednesday, March 9, accompanied with many good wishes. Alfred J. Soden, Vicar.”
