“WELL BEGUN IS -- New Seaham, Durham. - Thursday, Sept. 8th, the Vicar and a great number of people met in the Mission Room at 6 p.m. to have tea and a pleasant evening to welcome Capt. Colin to his work in the parish. […] Capt. Colin commenced work on Saturday, Sept. 10th and had a lantern lecture in the Mission Room; the subject illustrated by the lantern was: 'The torn Bible, or Hubert's friend,' a very interesting story of soldier life which was read by Mrs. Colin. On Sunday there was an Open-air Meeting in the streets at 3 p.m., also a service at 6 p.m., at which there was a goodly number present and mostly all stayed to the after-meetings, the addresses being given by Captain and Mrs. Colin. There is a grand prospect of the good work already started being stimulated and continued by the help of God and your prayers. W. H. C.”
