“A CHURCH CROWDED OUT Smannell-Andover. - The Church Army 'Winchester' Van arrived in this parish on Monday last. The energetic Captain and his colleagues at once opened the campaign by proceedings in the open air, following up these with a Lantern Service in the Schoolroom in the evening. This was remarkably well attended, and the audience listened with great attention to the clear and graphic description of the various items thrown upon the sheet, and joined very heartily in the hymns. Throughout the week Mission Services and Lantern Services were held in the Schoolroom, each succeeding one being better attended than the one previous; these were in addition to Addresses in the open air. [...]”
