“HAPPY GATHERINGS Brotherton. - Many pleasant and profitable winter evenings are being spent in this village, through the instumentality of Nurse Averillo, who has been, and is still, assisted by friends from Methley, Pontefract, etc. The evening's programme consists of readings and lectures, illustrated by lantern views, and to judge by the good attendances every Wednesday evening, they are greatly appreciated. The large room at Calx House, through the kindness of Lady Gwendolen Ramsden, is used on those occasions, [...] - Weekly Herald.”
