“The Bishop's recommendation: Capt. Hewitt, with Cadets Ellwood and Copeland, have been in this parish some days. They came from the Bishop of Carlisle with his Lordship's strong recommendation, and their visit has been most acceptable. It is the first place that the Diocesan Van has visited. We have had some excellent magic-lantern exhibitions combined with evangelistic meetings, which have been largely attended. We part with these good earnest men with deep regret, but with the best of wishes and earnest prayers that God may own and bless their efforts. ”
