ADDISON, H.J., junior (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
“A soul-winning service of song: A few weeks ago we had a most interesting and soul-winning Service of Song, entitled, 'The Way to Heaven,' illustrated by magic lantern. The singing was entrusted to a special choir (formed for the occasion) of over forty voices, who did their part remarkably well. The beautiful story, which described Jesus as the true and only Way to Heaven, was read by our good friend Mr. H. J. Addison, Junr. The large room was nicely filled with a most attentive audience, a great number expressing a wish that it would be repeated again. So on the following Friday we had it in our Mission Hall, which was packed. Our prayer is that all those who enjoyed seeing and hearing may be led to leave the broad way and come on to the narrow way alone leadeth unto life eternal. After paying expenses we sent 1p to the Social Scheme. Our Magic Lantern Services on Saturday and Monday nights are very successful (thanks to Miss Cheshire, who sends our slides). We hear from time to time many encouraging remarks, children going home and telling their parents how Jesus suffered for all.”
